Royal fans ignored warnings of a 30-hour wait as they patiently approached Westminster Hall and formed a queue around the center of the capital.

Those waiting in line are told not to save space for others or to leave personal items unattended. They also hesitate to set up tents.

The Palace of Westminster opened its doors to the general public on Wednesday and will be open 24 hours a day before closing on 19 September - the day of Her Majesty's state funeral.

Government officials said they could not give an exact figure for how many people wanted to file behind the Queen's coffin, but about 750,000 people were expected to arrive.
